I’m sad to say that some people abuse the used of “Freedom of Speech” okay let me define it, it is the right to express any opinions without censorship or restraint. (that is according to Oxford dictionaries). And according also to Wikipedia Freedom of Speech is the right to communicate one’s opinions and ideas w/out fear of government retaliation or censorship. The term Freedom of Speech is sometimes used synonymously, but it includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. But then again, we as an opinionated human being must be able to construct well meaning opinions without degrading anyone/anything. It has nothing to do with whose right or wrong? that’s why its called opinion because its your own, based on what you’ve heard/read/watch. But then again there are set backs with that, how sure are you that what you’ve read/heard/watch is true? Voicing out your opinions is never wrong, it shows you are involved, thinking, analyzing that’s good. But when you do that to degrade or maligned someone that is the time that it becomes offensive and disrespectful. Sometimes you have to be mindful of what you are writing or voicing about, gather enough information coming from reliable sources and most specially speak only the truth, its not opinion anymore if what you are blabbering about is based only on what they call *haka-haka* lang. According to Article 19 of ICCPR states that “everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice.” Additionally states that the exercise of these rights carries special duties and responsibilities. And may therefore be subject to certain restrictions when necessary for the respect of the rights and reputation of others or for the protection of national security or public order or for public health and morals.
